Oremine Kisacik Property is just at the eastern part of the gold deposit found by MTA between 2002 - 2006. The main part of the Kisacik Property is located between the villages of Kisacik and Baharlar, in Canakkale Province on the Biga Peninsula of Northwestern Turkey. It is accessible by a 14 kilometer tarmac road from the village of Ayvacik which is located 66 km south of the regional capital of Canakkale.
Geology
The basement rock Kazdagi metamorphic group and the Karakaya zone are outcropped at the northeast of the property. The ultramafic and mafic rocks of the Cetmi Ophiolites are seen at the east and the Neogene andesitic rocks and pyroclastic rocks at the south of the property. The Miocene ignimbrites and rhyolitic dykes outcropped at the west are covered by Pliocene sedimantary overburden within the property.
Ore mineralization
The Oremine Kisacik Property is just next to the Kisacik ore deposit which has 1.0 Moz possible reserve of gold. The gold mineralisation is within the ignimbrite and closely related to the rhyolitic dykes which extend northeast-southwest direction. Extension of the dykes, mineralisation and alteration, and the results of the drills, made just at the boundary by MTA, all indicate the gold mineralisation continues through the Oremine Property under the Pliocene cover. The extent of the continuation of the mineralisation should be tested by future drilling.
Another mineralisation zone was revealed during the short prospection at the north of the village Baharlar. Here, the schists are heavily silisified along a N-S and NW-SE direction in an area of 30-50m x 200-300m. Silisification is widespread as small banding and dark color which are typical textures for gold mineralisation. Small trenches seen at the top of hill are evaluated as old mining remains.
