A flood about fifteen years ago revealed some galeries near Beyköy, 5 km east of Kepsut. These galleries and the old remainings were later interpreted as ancient galleries for gold mining. The galleries are in the Eti-Maden property and the area has been explored by MTA. The Oremine Kepsut properties are just next to the Eti-Maden property and exhibit similar geology including meta-basic rocks, schists and marble as blocks and/or interclations and alteration. The carbonates contain iron-oxide rich zones which are the favorable places for gold mineralisation. Several caves have been found at the west part of Kepsut licenses, near Nusret, one of which shows similar shapes as ancient mining galeries.
On the other hand, at the southeast, near Ovacık a widespread kaolinisation and silicification developed in rhyodacidictuffs showing Au anomalies. The kepsut licenses have been explored by geochemical methods.
